Dr. Simpson will explore three primary questions: (1) What are ethical wills, (2) What is the origin of this tradition and (3) Why do people write them? Since this will be an interactive session, once you have registered; you will have access to her handout.  This handout will guide you in contributing to the conversation. Dr. Simpson will ask the participants, “If you were to leave your own Ethical Will, briefly describe what you would want it to say” In addition. Dr. Simpson invites you to share and reach out to her if you have a letter you would like to share or need more detail prior to the presentation at jewishethicalwills@gmail.com

BIO

Dr. Lesley Simpson is a Canadian writer, and a former journalist for Canadian daily newspapers. Her PhD research explores Jewish ethical wills and paradigms of Jewish memory. She is collecting new material to create a contemporary repository of these extraordinary letters for a new book. Dr. Simpson is searching for letters that have not been published. She is working on a collection that will feature new Jewish voices from around the world.
